Linking with Schools in Nigeria
Part of the education element of the Festival, and our charitable activities, is to link with schools elsewhere in the world to help children learn about other cultures.
We work with two schools in Nigeria in Abuja and Kano, and the children exchange letters with school children in Stratford, telling them a bit about themselves and their lives.
Not only does this help the children discover new cultures and the difference between the UK and Africa, it helps children learn the valuable skill of letter writing and communicating with other people.
The Project, now in its third year, has proved to be enormously rewarding for all involved.
We are also working wuth OUP who have kindly donated literacy books to the schools in Nigeria, where resources are so lacking.
