Wendy Cope OBE is one of the UK’s most admired poets. Since her bestselling debut, Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis, was published in 1986, she has been responsible for some of the best-known and most-quoted lines in contemporary poetry. Her skill is in her wit and parody - including distilling TS Eliot’s The Waste Land into five limericks - and she has a keen eye for the everyday, mundane aspects of English life and our relationships with our nearest and not always dearest. She has received a Cholmondeley Award for poetry and was awarded the American Academy of Arts and Letters Michael Braude Award for light verse, and she’ll be sharing poems from her new anthology, Anecdotal Evidence. Ticket includes a glass of wine.
