James Shapiro is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University and a highlyregarded Shakespearean scholar. He has written several award-winning books on the Bard, and his most recent, The Year of Lear: Shakespeare in 1606, was awarded the James Tait Black Prize and the Sheridan Morley Prize. He’ll be sharing his latest book, a timely exploration of what the plays, so popular in the States, reveal about this divided land, from Revolutionary times to the present day.
