Stories that start as a history can unexpectedly become a personal memoir. So it was with Lennie Goodings, Chair of the UK feminist publishing house Virago Press. Her authors include, amongst many others, Margaret Atwood, Maya Angelou, Sarah Waters, Natasha Walter, Sandi Toksvig and Marilynne Robinson. and A Bite of the Apple is part-memoir, part history of Virago, and part thoughts on over forty years of feminist publishing.

Clover Stroud is a writer and journalist writing for the Daily MailSunday TimesDaily Telegraph and Conde Nast Traveller among others. Her first book, The Wild Other, was shortlisted for The Wainwright Prize. Her latest, My Wild and Sleepless Nights, is a profound reflection on the reality of motherhood sparked by the birth of her fifth child.
