Richard has had a cycle accident and though he is ok, he has been advised not to work and travel for a few weeks. We are hoping to reschedule this event for our Winter Weekend.

A senior journalist for BBC Future brings us a fascinating exploration of the importance of long-term thinking. Modern-day technology and capitalism, he argues, have supercharged our short-termist tendencies putting us at the mercy of reactive politics and 24-hour news cycles; when in the past projects took people a lifetime and writers dreamed of worlds thousands of years hence. He examines the psychological biases that discourage the long view, and talks about meeting the growing number of people from the worlds of philosophy, technology, science and the arts who are exploring smart ways to overcome them and widen our perception of time.
