If you didn't know the writer, would you be able to tell their gender from the way a book is written? Can a man write a woman convincingly and why do authors still go by their initials? Come and join our (very unscientific) experiment to see if you can guess an author’s gender from their writing, and meet two authors who'll talk about how they write, why women for centuries have had to change their names, and why Harry Potter could only ever be a boy. AL Kennedy is the Costa Prize winning author. Anthony McGowan writes for adults and children (as a man and a woman) and won the CILIP Carnegie Medal.
